If you've ever walked into a home decor store only to feel severely broke and depressed about the prices, you'll completely understand why it's sometimes better to just DIY [1]. While most homeowners are familiar with cool IKEA hacks [2], an Imgur user [3] was so inspired by another retailer, Restoration Hardware, that he decided to make his own TV stand. With a couple pieces of wood and sheets of metal, he was able to craft a rustic-meets-industrial TV stand for his living room. He documented the entire process, so if you're feeling inspired to make your own table for less, follow his steps ahead.
A mockup of the final product:
Assembling the sides here:
Adding the bottom and back pieces:
Some progress wrapping the wood in the sheet metal — there are still bubbles in it that need to be fixed, though:
Fixed the bubbles by adding a rectangular patch to it, looks better aesthetically:
TV stand upside-down and wrapping the bottom edges up:
Back side of the TV stand wrapped up:
Laying the shelving in now, it's just normal pine one-by-fours:

All put together and stained, just needs some polyurethane to seal up the wood:
Finally got to bring it inside and put my TV on it:
