Do You Decorate With Empty Frames?

The trend of hanging empty frames as been around for several years now. I haven't latched onto it myself, but I can't say I oppose it. Antique frames in particular have remarkable craftmanship that is worthy of display in its own right. The trick is to do it in a fresh and innovative way. For instance here, I love how this oval shape frame was hung on a wire, and its gilding picks up some of the other hues in the room. Have you ever tried decorating with empty frames in your home?

I have a bunch of antique ornate looking frames that I've found at garage sales. I painted them all black, and against the white walls the really pop. The smaller ones I've hung funky necklaces in.

No, but an acquaintance of mine does. She lives in a very old, Civil War-era place, and the frames are all distressed and purposely made to look old. In those old rooms, it creates an eerie effect that's actually kind of beautiful.

No. For ornamental (and possible functional) purposes, I tend to install candle wall sconces. I think they look great, provide possible ambient lighting, and if scented candles are used, a lovely aroma.
