Do You Decorate With Real Fruit?

Fruit was all around me during a recent trip south of the border — and I'm not just talking about my margaritas! Not only were perfectly ripened oranges, lemons, mangoes, and limes readily available as a quick way to curb a sweet tooth, but the fresh fruit was also used as decorations nearly everywhere.
Desperate to bring a piece of my tropical vacation home, I've been looking for the perfect way to reproduce this look in my home. I'm thinking of starting off easy by placing lemons in a simple glass bowl such as this Pottery Barn Pinch Large Serve Bowl ($39), but any crop could liven up the right space. The lovely citrus will forever remind me of my time on the beach, but do you already decorate with fruit? If faux fruit is more your speed, check out these posts on decorating with apples and pineapples!

this just reminds me of 'the breakup' when jennifer aniston wanted 12 lemons for the centre piece :)

There's always a big bowl of seasonal fruits on the dining table. It just makes the fruit more available for everyone and encourages you to eat it. Plus it does look nice!

I like to decorate with fruit but it goes bad so quickly. It's just my husband and I and we can't eat it fast enough. Any tips?

I do so mostly in the fall, with apples and nuts and grapes.

I sometimes put out a bowl of fruit, but since I try to buy mainly organics I have to be careful because fruits w/o tons of preservatives/waxes on it can go bad quickly!

I do the same thing, get great compliments and I feel like it makes rooms smell so much fresher and kind of summery.

I like to use lemon and limes in hurricane lamps around the house to add a splash of color and natural aesthetic. It's a refreshing change over flowers, plus they last longer.
