Do You Have an Entertainment Center?

With Xboxes, Apple TVs, and DVD and Blu-ray collections to store, as well as Plasmas to prop up, the appeal of an expansive entertainment center is obvious. But visually, it can be a very commanding piece of furniture. Some of us prefer a more diminutive TV stand or can get by with a mounted flatscreen and DVDs stashed in the coffee table drawers. How about you?

Yes, I have one that was a hand-me-down from my brother-in-law. We can't really afford to spend on a new one so it's fine for now. I'd like a more modern, crisper-looking one someday, though. Better yet: Just mount of on a wall and forget about all the fuss.

I like the minimal/hidden look some of you have going!

Our TV is hidden in an armoire. It is watched maybe twice a month, if we actually watch our 2 netflick movies....often we are lucky to watch one movie a month. Other than that it is not on. We live far enough out that there is no cable and we do not desire to watch tv enough to do anything about it.

I have an IKEA Expedit bookcase that I use as my "entertainment center." It's turned on its side (so 4 cubes across and 2 down). It's full of books and I have a Liberty of London (thanks Target!) bin of DVDs. I really like it!

oh no no no we have a tv mounted on the wall above the mantle, with no cords, nothing. our Tivo is on a side table, but on the bottom shelf so it's positioned not directly below the TV, and the remote works with it, but it's not imposing whatsoever and there's a lamp above to draw the eye away from it. we have few DVDs because we on-demand everything, and we keep them with the dvd player that has been used once in a bench elsewhere in the house. it's minimal and i like that.
