Do You Have a Fireplace?

It's getting chilly enough in San Francisco that I'm thinking about getting my fireplace going soon. After years, I finally have one in my house, and it's a nice luxury. Do you build fires at home?

My apartment has a fireplace, but it doesn't work. My parents have a fireplace in the living room that they use every night, and they have another one that opens to the family room on one side and the sun room on the the other, but they only use that one when we have company.

I have a fireplace, but I also have a flat screen mounted above it. My stepfather insists that it will ruin the picture if I build a fire.

we actually never use it... the entertainment unit is in front of it... it's the only wall my giant TV would fit on [it's also where the cable is located]

I have one in my bedroom and I always make my boyfriend build a fire if we are watching a movie in the winter. I love it! I used to keep the wood in my bedroom as a sort of decoration but it attracted ants! sheesh!

Yes! There is nothing like a real fire. It's just so cosy!

I wish I did! Some apartments in my complex have then, but unfortunately not mine.

CasaSugar--my thoughts exactly! I woke up this morning to see that our city's late summer seems to be over and the chill has set in, and thought how amazing it is that my new place has an awesome wood burning fire for this sort of day! It's pretty rare to have actual working ones in this city nowadays so you and me, we're pretty lucky! :-D PS--This is my 5000th point. Platinum, baby! Hehe

I have a fireplace but I only burn candles in it (because I'm deathly afraid if fire). :-(

We have one, and a woodstove. I love the smell of cedar and sassafrass burning. Mmmm so glad it's getting to be fall!! It's a big family fun thing when my husband splits the wood, we all help load it up and stock the porch and the boys gather little sticks for kindling. Nothing beats the taste of food cooked over open fire!

I have 2. One in my bedroom and one in the downstairs living room. I'm thinking of switching to gas logs since I hardly ever build a fire due do the mess afterwards.

Yes, we have one in our livingroom. It's a gas fireplace which means no wood, no smoke, no mess!!! It was the only way to go for us since I have allergies and always suffered in previous homes with wood burning ones. It's beautiful and can cozy up a room in no time flat when lit!!!We have stacked stone around ours and it looks great!!

We have a gas fireplace that we love, it puts out more than enough heat for our 1075 sq. ft. home, it so easy, you never have to clean it, and the dog loves it too.

I have one in my apartment. I am afraid to use any other than fire logs though since i dont' have a fire poker set, and so i only burn them when i am going to be home 4 hours (and awake) to keep an eye on the blaze.

we have one in our living room. We switched it over from log-burning to gas a few years back. Love to use it and it is so easy- no clean up or wood storage.
