Do You Have a Julbock?

The Julbock, or Yule-goat, is made of straw and wrapped in red ribbon. It has a long history in its home country of Sweden, going back 300 years. Now its job is to guard presents at Christmas, but it was originally a stand-in figure for the devil in a pre-Christian Swedish tradition that has generally been absorbed into Christmas-holiday rituals.
