I live in an apartment. My fiance and I are saving for a house... but I'm still in school so we're waiting until I'm done. :)

we live in a manufactured home here in the Bay Area, we own the home but we rent the space. A house and lot is too expensive for the meantime

I live with my parents but am hoping to rent a house in the near future -- coming back to live with your parents IS tourture. but I appreciate all that they do!

Townhouse, which is essentially an apartment that feels like a house. I never want to live in a house again! It's high-rises or townhouses/brownstones for me forever...unless my OWN pool becomes an even bigger draw over the years.

Sort of somewhere in between. I live in one half of a shotgun double in New Orleans. We rent, but it's half of a house rather than a traditional apartment building.

I live in an apartment. I would like to buy a house within the next three years. gruaig_rua: much like you how can rent a house, you can also rent a condo. The owner of the condo owns that piece of property like a regular home owner, except they have to follow the rules and regulations of their condo association.

I'm moving to a new apartment in Astoria on Wednesday! The room is SO tiny (9.5 feet x 7.5 feet). Any affordable small-space ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks City Girl ;) Of course now I want to know what's the difference between an apartment and a condo? You rent an apartment and own a condo?

I just bought a top, full-floor Edwardian condo in a 3 story building. Sooo it's like an apartment in that I share with 2 other owners from the floors below me, but like a house in that I have an entire full floor (1,710 square feet), a private entrance, and own it. It's the closest I'll get to a house in San Francisco, at least! Gruaig Rua, a condo is an individually owned parcel of real estate set within a greater structure. Basically this means it's like an apartment you own (whether that be in a modern highrise with hundreds of owners, or like me in an Edwardian with only 3 owners). There is an association of these owners within the building or complex that make democratic-like decisions on maintenance, overall design, etc. Members of the condo association must usually pay dues (HOA dues), to mutually cover these costs.

We (hubby, son, and I) live in a 2 bed-1 bath condo with a small yard. The complaints are 2: upstairs neighbor being loud (they have kids and they let their kids jump rope 10-11 at night), and parking (everyone seems to think that they can just park anywhere/claim your spot as theirs). The next place we're moving is either a house, or a townhouse with a garage so we don't have to deal with upstairs neighbor and weird parking arrangement.

well in a house, but it's my mom's house so renting I guess...want to move out soon-when I get married early next year! :) then we'll either get an apartment or rent out a house, houses in the DC metro area are so darn expensive!! (500-800k!!!)
