Do You Live on a Lake?

Growing up, I was a two-minute walk to a beautiful lake behind our home. While our house wasn't technically "on" the lake, it was certainly close enough to take advantage of all it had to offer, from canoeing to fishing to swimming. Are you a lucky lake property owner?Source: Flickr User jcookfisher

I had a very unique childhood. Grew up on a private lake in the middle of the desert.

Lake Ontario. I grew up right near the water overlooking steel mills. How lovely! LOL

My husband and I would love to retire on Lake Tahoe. But for right now our landlocked dwelling is fine.

wow.... some casa posters are really lucky! the closest i am to water is a reservoir! there are some beautiful beaches in the uk though- especially scotland. i spent a summer on lake ontario in canada a few years ago and it was serious one of the best times of my life. since then i'd love to live by the water.... i think the simplicity of a beach house/log cabin there too would be amazing x

I love that picture. I live two blocks away from Lake Michigan and I get to watch it throughout my commute to work in the morning.

My summer cabin is right on the lake, with a private dock. It's such a beautiful place to be and I long for it to be my permanent home. Due to the amount of snow the area receives in winter, this wouldn't be feasible without a snowmobile and some form of electricity (solar would be ideal) so in the meantime, I'm a valley dweller.

Not right now -- but when I was very young we lived right on Lake Michigan ... don't remember much of it, but we have old photos and it was beautiful !
