Do You Own a Piano?

A piano, be it an opulent grand piano or a more conservative upright one, adds instant charm to any room. If one of your housemates is skilled at the keys, you may hear some delightful tunes, too. But, they're a big investment if you're in it just for looks. Do you own one?

I'm the oldest of three, and each of us took piano lessons through high school. When my brother (the youngest) was at the end of high school the upright my parents had bought used over fifteen years before when I began to play, was pronounced DOA by the piano tuner. In a moment of weakness, my parents, while at the Piano Sale held at the local college (you can buy pianos at a discount that are only a year old), bought a gleaming black baby grand piano - a Pramburger, at the urging of my brother. End result? My brother went off to college, but I moved near my parents and have no room for a piano, so I visit there to play theirs... and have long since placed dibs on it should they downsize (I'm pretty sure it would get more use here than my dining room set!). In the meantime, it sure does make their living room look fabulous...

I play piano myself, and my daughter is taking class also. I have an upright Yamaha.

I have two, both uprights... one is old and not in the greatest shape but I'm attached to it because it's the one I learned on (as did my dad and his siblings), the other is a Yamaha I inherited from my grandfather that looks and sounds much nicer. Sadly they're both at my parents' place cos mine is too small so I'm stuck playing a usb keyboard on the computer for now :)

ohmy god that room is unreal. i love it. so cozy. to be honest though, i would prefer it without the piano. i don't have one and probably never will...i don't play and unless there was a perfect place for it, i'd just find it a dust collector
