Super firm. My boyfriend and I both love firm mattresses. We bought a new mattress a couple of months ago and mmm. Firm mattresses don't bounce back during sex and they let it be more natural, it's all you, rather than some random bounce-back that affects the rhythm like soft/plush. Soft mattresses and water beds both make our backs and hips hurt, also.

I couldn't find a mattress that I liked so I had one made. We now have three hand-made mattress sets in the house. I'm getting ready to purchase a fourth. They're the best.

Oh definitely soft and plush because I sleep on my side or tummy.

i like mine with a pillowtop. maybe not too soft as i find my back hurts from lack of support but not too hard as i sleep on my side and my shoulders and hips hurt if the mattress is too firm.the one i have at home from IKEA is pretty perfect for me.

I'm a big fan of the firm mattress with the pillowtop, too. I prefer my mattresses a bit on the firm side, but my husband prefers a bit softer than I do. When we were looking for our current mattress, there was one neither of us much cared for -- me because it was too soft and him because it was too hard -- and then we tried a pillowtop mattress that we both liked; he thought it felt softer, and I noticed that underneath it was a firmer mattress, enough of both worlds to work for us.

Plush is my favorite...but it has to be a little firm too.

i can relate with the whole sleeping on the same mattress for like 20 years. the dipping in the old mattress was getting unbearable. i was putting telephone books underneath the mattress to make it dip less but it felt like a bump in the middle of the mattress. i got a new one 2 years ago. it's amazing what a new mattress can do. i want to sleep all the time now.

This is going to sound really embarassing, but I've literally been sleeping on the same firm (interpret HARD) mattress for the past 20 years...I know terrible. But I don't see myself buying anything new for my roommate's place unless. PS: I should add that I've had the same roommates for roughly the last 26 years of my life...oh...they are my parents, LOL.

I also thought I was a firm mattress gal, but when I bought my new mattress I ended up with a Euro Top mattress that cost me some big bucks! It is heaven!! Stearns and Foster's high end lines are to die for!

I have a bad back so I need something that is not too soft.

Firm, but not extra firm. My back hurts all the time and I've heard a firm mattress really helps.
