Dyed Hide Rugs — Love It or Hate It?

Love It or Hate It? Dyed Hide Rugs

Horchow at ShopStyle

Zebra and cowhide rugs have been a big topic of discussion over the last few years. Some of you — and dozens of celebs! — can't seem to get enough of the trend. Others oppose them on moral grounds. And others don't take to them from a style perspective. But now Horchow's debuted these colorful Hides Rugs ($500) which have been dyed in brilliant colors for a striking effect. I just know you've got something to say about these statement-making rugs. Do you love 'em? Or would prefer your hide rugs to remain au naturel?

I hate the thought of decorating my house with dead animals. It's not so much a moral objection, since I eat meat, and the hide comes from cows. However, ever since I was little I used to hate my grandparents' hide rug because of the thought of stepping on a dead cow. I think the cow hide printed as a zebra is just tacky and makes no sense (the shape is wrong!). The blue-dyed cow hide is also weird... If you actually like hide rugs, why would you want to make it look synthetic? That said, to each his own...
