Good, Better, Best: Contemporary Computer Armoires

Yesterday, I showed you three classical computer armoires that let you set up a home office anywhere. But for those of you with edgier tastes, I decided to round up three more office armoires with a more modern vibe.

Good: Though the Ikea Cyril Computer Cabinet ($199) isn't as roomy as some others I've found, I love the smart design and minimalist look.

Two even better contemporary computer armoires, so

Better: Simple yet elegant, the Room & Board Calvin Armoire ($2,399) has a drop-down desk and chic, subdued hardware. It's available in a dark wood stain (shown), as well as a medium stain and a natural look.

Best: Pinch Design makes three armoire collections that can be customized in countless ways. I am particularly fond of the two-door Marlow Armoire with the office interior (from $5,570).

I love the looks of these, they are great for saving space but I'd feel really weird sitting in front of an armoire to be on the computer.

The IKEA doesn't look sturdy. And putting the CPU on the top shelf is just asking for trouble. Heavy to lift for one, lots of noise, and you'd have to anchor that armoire to the wall unless you want to have at least 15-20 pounds of computer flying at your head. And IKEA furniture is mostly fiberboard and veneer. Yuck.

I love the last one but I would never pay that much!

I'm not a big fan of computer armoires or desks designed solely for computers. I say just put your computer on a nice desk or parsons table that you could use for other things, too.

love these ideas but for a pc. I don't know It doesn't look like it would provide a nlot of air ventilation for the pc which will make it slow down and over heat

Ikea furniture can be a tad suspect but this is a cute computer storage solution.

I'm a fan of the first one, as it works well in a small study or room for flats.
