A former art teacher always told me to take breaks while painting a colorful piece to gaze at the color green. Even the most vibrant greens seem to have an immediate calming effect. It's certainly a refreshing shade, which surprisingly, does help to cleanse the visual palette.
I still apply the theory to other art forms; specifically, interior design. While drenching a room in green might not suit everyone, I'm inspired by the effect that concentrated doses of green can have on a space.
