8 Times We Were Happy to Be HGTV Fans in 2015

Jan 19 2016 - 11:30am

2015 was a great year to be an HGTV fan. We watched all the year's new show premieres and old series returns with glee. And beyond our TV screens, we happily followed the personal and professional successes in our favorite hosts' lives. Among the many exciting things that happened in 2015, we were the happiest to be HGTV fans when . . .

Magnolia Homes Had Three Huge Business Wins — and Debuted Fixer Upper Season Three

Chip and Joanna Gaines's rise to fame on HGTV over the past year has been nothing short of meteoric. The couple made their vintage Americana style accessible to fans across the country by launching a furniture line and completing plans on a bed and breakfast [1] that will be open to the public. They also moved their boutique, Magnolia Market [2], from a small, quiet space to a big and bustling historic silo — which, of course, they completely restored. Oh yeah, and they debuted season three of Fixer Upper.

Nicole Curtis Made a Silly Pregnancy Announcement

Nicole had a few people scratching their heads when she announced she was going to be her dog's surrogate [3]. She quickly updated the post to clarify she was only joking, and has since added a baby boy, her second son, to her family.

Jonathan and Drew Released Two Original Songs on iTunes

Releasing their new show, Property Brothers at Home on the Ranch, was not enough, so Jonathan and Drew recorded a couple songs to sing around the campfire [4]. You can buy "Hold on" and "Let the Night Shine In" on iTunes. Is there anything the Scott brothers can't do?

Love It or List It Filmed in North Carolina

After years of filming in Toronto, Canada, Hilary and David [5] came down South to Raleigh, NC, for season nine of Love It or List it, which began airing in March. We're loving the fresh locale!

Sabrina Soto Became a Mom

Sabrina Soto [6], the adorable host of HGTV's The High Low Project, added mom to her résumé this year, giving birth to daughter Olivia Grey in November.

Genevieve Gorder Became a White House Regular

Genevieve [7] has been beautifying houses on HGTV for years, but this year she moved onto the house; the White House, that is. The designer and host paired with the White House Historical Association for the 2015 Official White House Christmas Ornament, and will be hosting A Hero's Welcome Home and HGTV's White House Christmas Specials. We can't get enough of the behind-the-scenes White House shots she's posting on her Instagram account [8].

Despite Medical Obstacles, Christina and Tarek Added a Baby Boy to Their Family

After Tarek's battle with thyroid cancer [9] and two previous failed in-vitro attempts, the El Moussa's added sweet baby Brayden to their family in August.

Income Property Aired Its 10th Season, Making It One of HGTV's Longest Running Shows

Scott McGillivray is going for an HGTV record [10]; not only did the 10th season of Income Property air this year, but he also began filming on season 11. We hope he makes it to season 100!
