Turn Grocery Bags Into Decor With This Halloween DIY

Even the most diligent person occasionally forgets to bring a reusable bag to the grocery store. Luckily, eco expert Danny Seo figured out a way to turn leftover brown paper bags into something beautiful — just in time for Halloween! Featured in his book Upcycling Celebrations, this spooky tree DIY is perfect for adults who are looking to add an artsy spin to this year's holiday decor.

Want to make a tree for your window this October? Keep reading to get the steps for this clever DIY!

Rip open 3-4 brown paper grocery store bags until they are flat pieces of paper. Tape them together on one side using painter's tape so you have one large flat surface of material to work with. On the opposite side, paint several coats of black chalkboard paint, doing light layers and allowing each layer to dry before applying another coat. Once dry, use chalk to trace out the silhouette shape you want and cut it out using sharp scissors. Use double stick tape to attach your silhouette to a window, and add detail to it using chalk.
