Have You Ever Hung Wallpaper in Your House?

When I taught you how to hang wallpaper like a pro, you guys seemed very divided on the wallpaper vs. paint issue. So I'm wondering how many of you have ever decorated with it.

I've seen some cool ones. I like the really bold/graphic designs or the metallic/foil ones, but I don't know where I would put it. maybe a door or something. I rent now anyway so it doesn't really matter. I'm not going to be wallpapering any time soon.

I don't like wallpaper at all. My husband does but I have a feeling he'll be hanging it by himself if he wants it.

I have never used wallpaper. If i had the oppurtunity i don't think i would look forward to actually applying it. I think it would be a real mess.

When I bought my house I had to take wallpaper down because the previous owners did such a bad job of putting it up. That was an experience I don't want to relive, so no wallpaper for me.

I have used it, but I hated every minute of it and will never wallpaper again. Paint is the way to go for me.

Is it possible to add wallpaper to a mirror? We are renting a place with mirrors and I was wondering if we could cover it up?

I've never used it but I wouldn't mind trying it on just one wall. Make a feature for the room.

I prefer creating designs with paint ala Trading Spaces. Also, I like art on my walls and I think wallpaper detracts from it. They don't wallpaper museums do they? =p And another thing.....it reminds of little old ladies and too much frou-frou flowery stuff.

As I hit vote, I realized that I had lied! Gasp! There is wall paper in my bathroom...but I didn't hang it myself, my mother did!

I rather paint. Wallpaper is so lazy.

I've been seeing some cool wallpapers lately, but I'm too wimpy to even attempt putting it up myself. If I did it, I would do a small accent wall.

I only have one room in my house with wallpaper and that is my bedroom. It's this huge underwater mural with dolphins and coral and fish. It looks REALLY nice and it only cost me $25!!!

I'm pretty picky on wallpaper. There are so many BAD designs out there. I like what the new wallpaper designers are coming up with though. the last time I used wallpaper was a few years ago. We tore some out of a bedroom and it ruined the wall for painting (the person behind us didnt prepare the sheetrock first (d'oh!)). So we had to do something. We put up a textured paper and painted over that. it was subtle and pretty.

I've hung it many time, both at friends, my parents and in two rooms in my own house. It's a great solution if your walls are less than perfect - but you obviously want forgiving patterns on those walls, or very subtle patterns. The trick is to know how to measure well and where to start. Other than that, it's pretty easy. I do prefer painted wall however.

I do like SOME wallpaper, but I would be too scared to do it myself.

I have a tendency to shy away from wallpaper because I don't want my walls to be looking busy with patterns. I'm more of a "Zen-type, minimalist, sleek " person and that's what I aspire for in my house. Plus wallpapers can peel off and it's unsightly .

I've installed a border years ago but I'd probably never do it again.

Tried putting up wallpaper on my own, turned into a total mess and ended up wasting $ on expensive wall papaer that I had to repurchase and have a pro put up!

I grew up with a wallpapered house but I prefer the painted look. Plus if I found some really lovely wallpaper I liked, I'm too scared to make that kind of commitment.
