Have You Ever Staged a Home?

I just came across this Swedish real estate agency Alvhem that stages the properties in its portfolio to give them not only a polished (furnished) look, but a sense of lifestyle. You can see that the "person" who lives in this apartment is a working girl who likes to come home at night to a comfy couch and do some knitting. It's pretty clever; the technique really helps buyers "see themselves" there. Have you ever staged a home?

we staged our condo a few years ago. what a pain! we were still living there and had an almost 1 year old and i was pregnant. everything had to be just so all day long in case any buyers wanted to see it. the biggest fake thing i remember was the HUGE pot of bright red flowers at the top of the stairs next to the front door. there was no way to water the flowers and there was no sun (which the flowers needed) so i had to put the flowers on a little cart and haul them through the condo to the back porch where there was a hose and sun everyday. lol, condo sold in a week though so i guess it worked.

No, but I am fascinated by it. For some reason I think home staging, and what makes people want to or not want to buy a house, is the most interesting thing.

I have a business of redecorating rooms. I take what the owner has and rearrange it or add to it. I have even went and picked out light fixtures and bought accessories, suggested paint colors. It is so fun. Now I have added staging homes. I just need to market myself better any ideas??

I think it is a great idea and I wouldn't mind doing it as a career.

i just looked up a house in my neightborhood online to see photos of the inside and find out how much it cost and it was so obviously staged, each kids room was a different primary color and it looked like no one lived there

I've always thought it was kind of strange when places are styled for photos with shoes and clothes laying around. It's such an unnatural look, even if the opposite is intended.

Whoever staged the above did a great job. I'd move in!
