I've stayed at Maya Tulum and loved my time there. It's lovely. The beach is fantastic. You can walk or get around by bike. The ruins are a must see. I also suggest making arrangements to tour the nearby bio-reserve Sian Ka'an.

I spent about two weeks in Tulum, rented a house. Best. Vacation. Ever. Seeing the Mayan ruins, snorkeling in the ocean with huge rays and sea turtles, cenotes, our own private beach. Spectacular. Can't wait go to back!
