How-To: Assemble A DIY Home Cleaning Kit

Do you love to keep your house so fresh and so clean, but don't like to use lots of toxic cleaners to get your home sparkling? Good news — you can use the same natural ingredients that your great-great-grandparents used to get their homes clean. Considering that DIY natural cleaners are up to 1/10 the cost of conventional cleaners, you'll also be saving a lot of money. Best of all, these cleaners are safer to use around children and pets than conventional cleaners, and won't compromise your home's indoor air quality. Take a look to see what supplies you'll need for your home-cleaning toolkit. And stay tuned, because I'll be bringing you a bunch of cleaning "recipes" to use.

  • Washing soda
  • Baking soda
  • White distilled vinegar
  • Apple cider vinegar
  • Borax
  • A good liquid soap or detergent
  • Tea tree oil
  • lemon juice
  • olive oil
  • essential oils (for scenting your cleaner)
  • Spray Bottles
  • Glass Jars
  • carrying kit/bucket

You can assemble these ingredients yourself. Take a look at my widget to get an idea of where to buy some of these products.

I always use Vinegar to wipe off my stove and counter tops....also using baking powder over my sink cleans it up really well without any harsh chemicals within minutes....all u need to do is sprinkle baking powder and with sum water scrub it around..and then just wipe it or wash it down.

If anyone else is having trouble finding A&H Super Washing Soda, call this number 1-800-524-1328 (a recording)to find where it has been sold in your area in the last 90 days. I found everything else at Long's Drugs.

Is there another liquid detergent you suggest? I can't seem to find Dr. Bronner's in my area.

This is great! I've been looking for something else to clean with and save money. I'll probably end up supplementing this with my seventh generation stuff. Love their cleaning products =) Don't always like the price or plastic bottles though... :/
