How Do You Balance Masculine and Feminine Elements?

Open House: How Do You Balance Masculine and Feminine Elements?

CasaSugar Community member Mamalovespapa posted this photo in the Lovely Little Vignettes group, saying, "My husband wanted this midcentury black leather couch and I wanted to add a little girly touch with photos, the vintage mirrors, and the throw pillows." I love her wall art arrangement as well as their leather sofa, and I think it's a successful example of balancing masculine and feminine elements. Of course, it's definitely OK to have a room that's mainly either masculine or feminine, but if you're sharing your home with your better half, it's only fair to meet halfway. Even if you're living alone, creating a gender-neutral balance sometimes is just more interesting than something overly girlish. How do you balance masculine and feminine elements in your home? Hey glowingmoon, think your husband can give mine a call? I really think he's stupid for even thinking he has a say in home decorating...Just because it's his house, too...geez, men.... ;)

love the arrangement on the walls. if anything, the impression i get from this is feminine the wall colour does kind of neutralize it though.

As far as our interior design, my husband gave me carte blanche to do as I please. That's our balancing of the masculine and feminine (He, the masculine, gave me, the feminine, carte blanche, and I accepted. Balance achieved). ;)

we don't have trouble with is because we use different types of browns, from beige to espresso. But I do miss my beautiful pink walls from my room @my parents'. It was a very girly room. btw, I LOVE that couch.
