We took it down New Years eve. Only because we had a NYE party, and our house is kinda small, and it was sorta in the way.

NYD, and our tree is artificial; no needles.

my mom's a grinch. she takes her tree down christmas day, along with all the other holiday decorations. my dad leaves the lights up until new year's, but this year he didn't put any up :(

Normally it comes down on Jan. 6. There's a tradition that says that leaving holiday decorations up after Epiphany (Jan. 6) is bad luck. I'm not superstitious, but that sounds like a good date to me, so we follow that tradition.

I wanted to keep it up until the 1st but it is a baby magnet so it might need to go away sooner.

valancyjane - same here- I was so (pleasantly) surprised to see so many who keep them up until the epiphany! And I thought the same thing as you - it's still Christmas so why wouldn't they stay up? ;-)

If I didn't have this flu bug, I would have taken it down today. I'm always anxious to de-clutter the Christmas stuff and start the New Year with things feeling more open and organized!

It goes up a few days or a week before Christmas and stays up until Jan. 7.

Glad to see so many people that wait until Epiphany. Technically it's still Christmas until then, so the decorations should stay up! It doesn't hurt that it's a lot easier to wait a while after Christmas, until I have more energy!

I may take mine down tomorrow but most likely it won't be down until the day after New Years

I like to start the new year with a clean and fresh house, so mine is already down.

In Iceland, the last day of Christmas is the 6th and that's when we take down our decorations. We tend to leave our Christmas lights (the white ones) on for one or two months more to brighten up our days since we don't have so much of daylight. We also like to call them Winter lights rather than Christmas lights ... they really do make a difference :)

We normally wait until the weekend after new years. but this year it came down today the 27th. we just bought a new house and moved in right before christmas, decorated and then celebrated.

I finished taking down/storing all my decorations Christmas night. After a month I'm so tired of all that extra clutter I'm more than ready to pack it up and start thinking of spring projects. :)

We traditionally keep our Christmas tree and decorations up until New Year's Day.

Mine stays up until January 6 aka Three Kings Day or the Epiphany. It's a European tradition my family has kept. We do put ours up the Friday or Saturday after Christmas, the stockings are filled on December 6 (St. Nicolas day), open presents on Christmas Eve and take down the tree and decorations January 6. Only once has the tree been taken down after that.

All of our decorations stay up until after Jan. 6th which is the feast of the Epiphany. We don't exhange gifts on that day either, like some of you.
