How Would You . . .

This 1960s-era music stand (contact dealer for price) is attributed to famed designer George Nakashima. I love how malleable it looks already.

If you'll remember from the last few How Would You posts, I'd like you to think outside the home-decorating box and find alternate uses for traditional home accents and furniture pieces. How would you adapt this gorgeous wooden music stand so it's used in an unusual way? Leave a comment below and let me know where you'd put or how you'd uniquely use this stand in your home.

Like WhiplashGirlchild, I also thought about using it to prop up a mirror, vanity-style, or you could leave it on the floor, and prop up a giant mirror. I don't know that it would work well as a full-length outfit checker outer, but it would certainly work well to bounce light around, and make a place feel bigger. I imagine this in a hallway or foyer.

I would park it at a 45 degree angle at the wasted space in the turn on my stairs. I'd add an IKEA Piccola Picture Light across the top and showcase my daughter's latest art creation.

I would probably use it to display a favorite painting or a framed picture.

I would nail it to the wall as an artistic shelf.

It's very nice! I really like this peice! I would probably try and put it in my living rooom somehow so everyone could see it :) Maybe I would put it somewhere and then place a big photo or somethign tropical or a sunset in a frame that has the same type of wood colour and then leave it to rest on there :)

If I was the type of person to own a bible and to want it on display, it'd make a beautiful bible stand. Since I am not, I'd probably display a coffee table book or photo album on there. Or I'd mount a mirror on the stand and place the whole thing on a vanity.

my mind immediately went to this enormous (and very expensive) coffee table book about paris that i saw at the bookstore this weekend. I would open the book up to an interesting photo and put it on the stand, because i think the glamor of some of the photos in the book would be a nice contrast to the kind of outdoorsy thing the music stand has going . . .
