30 Clever Home Hacks For Decor-Lovers

How Would You . . .

These spoons (price unlisted), designed by Kirsten Hecktermann, are carved from local managed hardwoods from East Africa by wood carvers in Kirsten's father's workshop in Kilifi. I love their unique shape and the story behind them. But, they're so beautiful, so I wouldn't dare to toss them in a draw with my spatulas. If you'll remember, the last few How Would You posts, I'd like you to think outside the home-decorating box and find alternate uses for traditional home accents and furniture pieces.

How would you rework these hand-carved spoons so they serve a different decorating or practical function in your home? Leave a comment below and let me know where you'd put these beauties.

I would arrange them (with some other items of color to brighten it up) in a glass top display table.

Not sure...I really don't care for them, but some of these suggestions are very creative!

I would attach them together at the end of the thin parts, and use them as frames for photographs. Probably for landscapes or other outdoorsy stuff.

most of my decor is 'primitive' so i think these would probably look really neat as make shift hanging holders - like on the wall and one can hold a dish towel, another a pot holder/oven mitt and maybe leave the third in the middle as decoration. practical, right?

I would display them in my house too. Probably in a case.

If you had enough of them you could use they as cabinet hardware.

I would mount these on the wall in my kitchen (if I wasn't renting) and use them to hang kitchen utensils from.

put them into a nautical theme and have them take the place of the crossed oars. this is a joking post, i don't really like the product and cannot think of a practical purpose for it.

I have a set I bought in Mali and they're on display on my bookcase with a handcaved bowel I also bought in Africa.
