Moving into a new apartment meant starting from scratch for Isabelle Larue of Engineer Your Space [1]. Since she was on a tight budget, she opted for an affordable pine table set — consisting of an Ikea Ingo table and Ivar chair set [2] ($169) — and then upgraded it with some DIY [3] ingenuity. She painted the chairs the same vibrant blue as her kitchen and added fun, striped upholstery to them, and applied a semitransparent white stain to the table legs. The result is a playful dining set with much more charm and character than its budget price tag would allow you to believe. Check out the makeover details on Hometalk [4].
