CS: Is there a foolproof project you can recommend for a novice DIY-er?
JL: Shop for inexpensive picture frames of all sizes and paint them the same color as your wall with a high-gloss finish. Cover the wall from top to bottom with the frames randomly placed at all different heights. Feel free to use broken frames as well to add to the mix like I have done. I always go into off-price stores and look for damaged picture frames with broken glass. You can always count on a good discount. If you don't want to put holes in your wall, use repositionable 3M strips. They will hold everything securely onto the wall. The collection of salvaged frames will give any room a sense of architecture and depth.
