It's hard to imagine that designer and Fixer Upper star Joanna Gaines's house is anything less than perfect. We've seen glimpses of the charming Waco, TX, farmhouse [2] she shares with husband and costar Chip and their four young children on social media — and while we found the home to be flawless, Joanna sees room for improvement in one major area: practical comfort.
"Now that we're settling into the house, I want things to be comfortable. . . . I'm even thinking about our dining chairs. It's just that, if it's not comfortable, then people don't feel like they can stay forever," Joanna explained when asked during a group interview what design feature she's most excited to work on right now. "Trying to find that balance of a really pretty home that's livable and fun and comfortable, but also it's just practical. I think that's one of the things I love the most is that challenge of kind of both worlds."
While Joanna is refining her design, we're still aspiring to perfect her signature vintage-meets-contemporary farmhouse style. But now we know to work in welcoming, comfy elements as we go.
