Love It or Hate It? Painted Paneling

One way of dealing with outdated wooden paneling is by painting or staining it. I kind of like the sleek, ebony appearance of this paneling, but I can see how it might get to feel oppressive over time. What's your impression?

There would have to be lots of natural light in that room for me to live with it. Too dismal otherwise.

A lot depends on how well it's done and what color it's painted.

Forget the paneling. I love the table and chair. :)

I have a rule about painting woodwork; don't. But staining it with a dark stain might look nice.

It's pretty okay.

I do think it's nice and therefore love it x But also traditional wooden oak panelling is gorgeous, the idea of painting over this would be a travesty! Therefore undecided :)

With light, bright accessories, I think the dark paneling can work.
