Lovely Little Vignettes: My Desk

I've been working on decorating and styling my desk area for sometime. My new photograph by Samantha West just came back from the frame shop, so now it's all coming together.

I owned this white West Elm Parsons Desk years ago when I lived on the East Coast, but I wasn't able to bring it to SF with me when I moved. After searching for months on Craigslist, I finally scored a bargain on a brand new one this Winter. The Saarinen Tulip chair is another Craigslist find.

There are a few different vignettes and groupings within this whole scene. Click your way through my photos of each to read about all of my accessories and resources.

My sister just sent me these flowers for my birthday — aren't they gorgeous? The candle is the Fleur-de-Lys Tumbler Honeysuckle Candle, which I reviewed a while back. I picked up the Limoges porcelain dish in France when I was young, and I think the frame was a stocking stuffer a few years ago.

The little gold bowl is from an antiques shop in New Jersey, and I use it as a catch-all for the jewelry I wear everyday. The mirrored gold tray is actually a standup mirror from a thrift store for $4, which I flipped on its side to hold my perfumes. The alarm clock is the Kate Spade Perry Street Clock (out of stock), and I can't say it gets me out of bed, but I do love its classic design.
The lamp base is actually from the Kenneth Brown nursery collection! I swapped out the girlish pink shade for one I had laying around and added a black tassel to make it more grown-up. The shade is coincidentally the exact same color as my paint. I can't decide if I like how neutral it is or if I want to substitute in something bold.

I scored my velvet feather pillow at an SF boutique for $14, but later found out that it sells for $145! I bought the bucket at a local hardware store, but you can pick one up at Urban Outfitters for $24.

The San Francisco-themed papercut to the left of the photograph, which reads "This Must Be the Place" is one of my own knock-offs of Julene Harrison's artwork. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, right!?

I think the basket came with some sort of bath kit, but I use it as an inbox to store my mail.

I plan to add more artwork to the arrangement when I come across something I love. But I'm also flirting with the idea of keeping it all in a black and white color scheme.
I was thinking to get the same desk, or possibly keep the old desk and revamp it to look similar to the parsons desk. I'm just not sure which way to go, but thank you for reminding me to look on Craigslist also.
