Midday Muse: Mushroom Motif

I love cooking with mushrooms, but I'd never considered them as a decorating motif until I saw this gracefully muted Zen Girl Print by Esty artist Elsita. It makes me want to outfit a sage green couch with red mushroom pillows. How would you use this as inspiration for a room?

This picture inspires me to want to do a whimsical living room. Kind of like an Alice and Wonderland theme. I would do odd item in big scales. This picture would be one I would do a huge wall clock and maybe a built in shelf with whimsical items on them...I wouldn't necessarily do things with mushrooms.

I remember Mushrooms being really popular in 1979/80. I was 9 and I didn't get it at all. your muse is cute inspiration!

I think those mushrooms would make GREAT lamps. I don't know how I would do the rest of the room (or what room the lamps would even go in)... but if I were to use the mushrooms, I'd use them as lamps!

Ooh, Studio524, that would be a nice pattern on a napkin. I cannot wait to see photos of your 1950s fridge — that sounds incredible.

I just can't keep up with your muse mints, Casa. But - My immediate thought is that a mushroom pattern like this - or even this print - would make great casual cloth napkins. As you know we are remodeling. Well, that is not confined to the indoors. I recently reclaimed the rear patio from my husband and intalled a 1940's wrought iron table with matching chairs, a 1960's - 70's glider, a side table, a grill. A reclaimed 1950's fridge is providing storage space for linens and tableware. As with everything else in my life, it's a work in progress. I have yet to recover the chairs and I need to finish painting the top on the side table. The fridge is in excellent condition but needs some touch up on the outside. Photos [of all the work] are coming soon. X my <3

I'm not a big fan of mushrooms in general, but I can see where they could be cute. Particularly in a kids' room, depending on the theme.
