The ceremony and reception took place at The Nine, a 9,000-square-foot rental studio in San Francisco's SoMa district, which is used for events and photo shoots. The warehouse building has expansive, multipaneled windows and has both northern and western exposures. Kicking off at 5 p.m., the light and shadows were captivating.
To designate the altar, Troy built two podiums from steel mesh, which fittingly offered a contemporary, industrial, architectural quality. Inspired by an installation he'd seen at the University of Florida, Troy wrapped commercial Saran wrap between two columns to separate the ceremony space from the reception space. Transparent, it allowed the light to flow across the room naturally.
