Take a Tour of Prince's Mysterious Paisley Park

Prince's famed Paisley Park in Chanhassen, MN, was the first of its kind – a compound containing two recording studios [1], a dance rehearsal hall, a performance space, offices, and even living accommodations all under one roof, all for one artist. He could record his music, film his movies, and store his costumes here without ever having to go outside. Tragically, it is also where Prince's body was found.

Just months after the singer's passing, his family is turning the once highly secretive space into a museum. While they're still in the process of getting approval from the City Council [2] to turn the space into a museum, which they expect will host some 2,000 visitors a day, they have permission to open up Paisley Park to the public on October 6, 8, and 14.

If you can't make it to Minnesota this month, you can still get a peek inside. Architect Bret Thoeny was tapped by Prince to build Paisley Park in 1983, spent nearly three years building the structure, and opened up to CNN about Prince's sacred space, so long shrouded in mystery. Check out the video above to get a tour of Paisley Park and see where Prince created his music and spent his time.
