Poll on Renting a House Through VRBO For the Holidays

Have You Ever Rented a House For the Holidays?

Whenever I head back to the Midwest for the holidays, I spend a lot of time driving from one family's home to another. So this year we decided to maximize our time together by simply gathering at one location. My extended family and I are sharing a cabin for Christmas that we found through Vacation Rentals By Owner (VRBO). While it's not the most inexpensive way to go when gathering for the holidays, I think it's worth it simply for the ease and convenience of not having to repack and relocate every day or two — and of course, the extra hours spent with family is the most wonderful reward.

If you can fill the house, it is worth the money big time. College friends and I will do this. There is usually 6-10 of us and we end up paying around $40-$60 each for the weekend and we get a really nice home. :)

We haven't rented a house because there are only 3 of us (my husband, my daughter, and myself), but we have a tradition of traveling out of town every other year. We both have family near we live and the holidays can get pretty hectic and seem like a chore sometimes with all the events. We've gone on cruises and stayed in hotels out of state to get away.

Yes! It's such a nice escape from holiday madness. Renting a place out of town means less production and mania at home, and you get to explore a new place with your extra time off.
