CasaSugar: You were born in New York City, and moved back there from the Midwest. How does your identity as a New Yorker guide your designs?
Purvi Padia: In my opinion, NYC is full of nontraditional beauty, both in its architecture and its residents. Beautiful disarray is everywhere and imperfection is what makes things interesting. My designs are never perfectly matchy or super-refined — there is always a touch of warmth and an unexpected point of interest to keep things eclectic. I feel so lucky to have the most amazing city in the world as a daily inspiration.
