Sleeper Sofa in HGTV Urban Oasis Apartment

Do You Own a Sleeper Sofa?

When it comes to HGTV, there are many things to love, not the least of which is the Urban Oasis giveaway. This year's contest will award one lucky HGTV fan with a modern urban apartment in downtown Chicago. Decorated and designed by Vern Yip, the whole space is beautiful, including this gorgeous velvet upholstered sofa. The sofa is actually a sleeper — making the one-bedroom HGTV apartment more guest-friendly. (If you want to invite your friends over to sleep in this sweet apartment, you can enter here for a chance to win the Urban Oasis apartment.) In my experience, it's decidedly difficult to find a good-looking sleeper sofa that's also comfortable for guests to sleep on. When we shopped for a sleeper sofa, we tried out dozens before settling on the Kristina model from American Leather. It's truly a comfortable sleeper sofa, and not too shabby looking either. In fact, we're trying to figure out how to keep it in our house, even though the guest room is now officially a toddler room.

I'm debating on sleeper sofa or futon. Futons are usually cheaper and cheaply made, but sleep sofas are ugly :'(... I think with a futon it gives you the option to be able to switch up the look since I'd likely have to buy one every few years... I do have a spare bedroom though, so it isn't 100% necessary, but hey, who knows when I'll have like 10 people over that need to sleep!

I have one! It's comfortable as a couch (if a little saggy), but totally uncomfortable when pulled out. We have a sleeper sofa in the living room and a futon in the guest room (we have a lot of visitors sometimes, big families, lol). The futon is 10x more comfortable and nicer looking.

I am just going through this! Why are they always ugly or uncomfortable? Don't get this. There is a real market for attractive, comfy sleeper sofas-affordable would be nice too! Ikea, are you reading this, lol.

I've got one, but it's not terribly comfortable. I don't care enough to throw away a perfectly good sofa though.

No need for one - we have a guest bedroom - we looked in the past and the only one we like that was comfy was really spendy

Yes! I just got one (arrives this week). It is a green Danish sleeper, not sure how comfy it is though—haven't tested. :P
