CS: How did you decide on the color palette?
KS: Because Emma said she liked red I ran with it. Not many clients give you such strong color ideas so I jumped at the chance. I think there are many ways to approach a space and no one way is right. In this case I decided to go bold on the walls and then keep the furnishings neutral to avoid it from going into Pee-Wee's Playhouse territory. With a red backdrop I chose creams and whites as a base for the furniture and used contrasting black and charcoals to add pattern. This space was all about bold color and patterns to really maximize the small space visually and keep your eye moving.
