The 1 Major Downside to Taylor Swift's LA Mansion Becoming a Historic Landmark

Apr 10 2017 - 7:00pm

Taylor Swift [1]'s 11,000-square-foot mansion was reportedly just deemed a local historic landmark [2]. The pop singer bought the grand property for a cool $25 million [3] back in 2015. The iconic seven-bedroom, 10-bathroom property was built by legendary film producer Samuel Goldwyn in 1934, and it has everything you could imagine, including a movie theater with 35 mm projection, a pool, and a pool house. To top it all off, there's even a sunken tennis court for Taylor to get her game on with her celebrity girl squad. While a historic designation comes with a huge tax break, it has an equally big downside: Taylor won't be able to change the house in any significant way without first getting approval from the Beverly Hills Historic Preservation Committee. And getting their approval is a complicated and arduous process, so don't expect Taylor to add a recording studio or remodel any time soon.
