Toadstool Stool in Ugly Betty

Assisted Living: In Search of a Toadstool

Here's a post from CasaSugar Community member Joliz from the Assisted Living group:

Hey ladies and gents! I had the awesome privilege to tour the set of Ugly Betty a few months ago and have been obsessing over some of the things I saw, in particular a very Super Mario-esque toadstool in Betty's apartment, as seen here:

As a geeky girl, I love what I interpret as a subtle nod to video games and since I've recently re-done a room in my apartment with layers of varying greens and neutral browns I would love this unexpected pop of red color. I've been looking on Etsy and have come up unsuccessful and the girl who gave the tour wasn't sure where it came from (though she did note the set design department shopped a lot at Ikea, CB2, west elm, etc.). I did sit on it and it was quite comfy though frankly I'd use it as a footstool more than likely (or a decorative touch). If anyone could help me I'd be over the moon!

To see my suggestions,

Hi Joliz! Cute find. I've done a little digging and found some Mushroom Toadstools ($80) from Etsy seller Royal Kane. It's not the same stool — it has less of a mushroom shape — but they're made with treated wood logs, a red polka-dot seat cushion, and an artificial plastic grass base, which I think are all adorable.

The Hoosier Mushroom Company also sells a Toadstool Stool ($50), which has a more authentic mushroom shape. But it doesn't have the cute polka-dots!

Hope this helps. Anyone else have suggestions?

$168...whoa. You might want to make the trek to Hobby Lobby. I don't think anything in that store is that expensive. =)

And Casa sadly the nearest Hobby Lobby is an hour and a half away. Thank you again though for highlighting my request

Thank you so much for your suggestions everyone! I'm so glad the original was found! I am however inspired by the others too (especially the colors of the Hoosier ones) so I guess now instead of no options I have a number to consider. Y'all are great

Martha Stewart made these on her show last year! I'm sure if you go to her site there is video. I remember it being fairly easy.

One of my Twitter followers said she saw one of those Ugly Betty toadstools at Hobby Lobby. Do you have one in your area?
