You Can Live Out Your Real-Life Eloise at the Plaza Fantasy – For $75M

Apr 1 2015 - 1:08pm

Fans of the iconic children's book series Eloise at the Plaza can now live out their youthful fantasy of living in New York's posh Plaza Hotel; the hotel's four-bedroom, four-and-a-half-bath penthouse was just relisted for sale at a discounted price of $75 million — $5 million less than it went on the market for in 2013.

The 5,655-square-foot duplex occupies the 18th and 19th floors of the plaza and is full of charming storybook details, such as a turret room with 35-foot ceilings and an original Eloise mural by book illustrator Hilary Knight. Then there's all the perks of living in a luxurious hotel, such as a 24-hour on-call staff and access to the hotel's maid, valet, and room services. And we haven't even mentioned the Central Park and Fifth Avenue views.

The penthouse's vibrant style — marked by an eclectic mix of antique furnishings, bold wall colors, and Andy Warhol portraits — is no accident; current owner is famed fashion designer Tommy Hilfiger and his wife, Dee Ocleppo. The couple purchased two uncombined units in 2008 to the tune of $25 million before pumping a reported $20 million into renovations, transforming the space into the dazzling duplex it is today.
