What Shape Is Your Dining Table?

Ever since I attended my architect friend's wedding in August (which featured an impressively long dinner table), I've been convinced that rectangular dining tables are the way to go. In theory, round tables are nice for large parties because they allow for all guests to see each other, but the expansive diameter may prevent guests from hearing each other. Oval tables may offer a happy medium. But if you're seated at the head of a rectangular table, you're probably missing out on some conversation, too. Ahh! Too many factors!

It's hard to describe, but I guess you could call it an elongated, slightly askew, hexagon. It was made from pieces of my grandparents custom built "zig-zag" table. It makes for some awkward angles, but I love how unique it is.

I have a rectangular one in the house, and an oval one as my outdoor table. The oval one is better for squeezing in additional people, but I love both of my tables.

RIght now it's square, but one day when I have a house, not an apartment I am getting a round. I saw one once done so well and its been my dream. I love the look and idea of the round. A girl can dream!

I have a square pub table with 8 chairs. I love it! I don't have a formal dining room, so it's a perfectly versatile.
