What to Use Instead of Vertical Blinds

Vertical Blinds Out . . . Drapery In!

Here's a post from CasaSugar Community member YBandD from the Su Casa group:

I recently moved into a new apartment. Here is some of the decorating progress. First thing is first: get rid of the awful plastic vertical blinds. I have great 9′ ceilings and the blinds were not exactly accentuating any architectural details.

Poof, be gone!  I did full height 96″ drapery panels to soften the space. The room seems bigger and much less harsh. The rod is mounted about 6″ above the window to give the room height.

Hanging the rod was easier said than done! While drilling through the old plaster walls, I hit brick!  Uh oh. Four trips to Home Depot later and I finally had the correct drill bit and anchors for the project. But, I still somehow managed to get holes slightly too big for my anchors.  Seriously in need of a handyman (any volunteers?!) and ready to give up at this point! Clever solution: wrapping the anchors with clear scotch tape to plug up the holes. Back in business and what a difference!

WOW! That looks fantastic! Did you just leave the vertical blinds on the window and just open them all the way, so the curtains hide them?
