Are You Over Shabby Chic?

When Rachel Ashwell's Shabby Chic business filed for bankruptcy last January, it was a sign that the style she had single-handedly spawned 20 years ago was on its way out, if not already. But last month, the Shabby Chic name was bought of bankruptcy and she found herself stocking two new stores — one in Santa Monica and one in New York — so it seems that her signature ruffles, vintage florals, and crumply sofas still have fans out there. Are you over shabby chic or still an enthusiast?

The aesthetic is fine in moderation, but it's exasperating how people destroy great old furniture painting it white with faux distressing to try to create that look.

I love shabby chic! I am over Mid-Century Modern. I feel like it's everywhere.

I've always liked it but my husband has resisted my efforts to do any sort of shabby chic decor. Hopefully someday we'll have a daughter so I can do her room shabby chic...that is my only hope for getting to use that kind of design!

Yep. My last interior was shabby chic. Right now, I'm retro modern.

I still love shabby chic, because it is relaxed looking and you can be very creative with what you add to it. the look can be mixed with comtempory, vintage or some up to date pieces.
