Are Your Floors Carpeted?

Carpet can add comfort appeal to your home, but it's also difficult to clean and can be a nuisance when you decide to switch up your home's color scheme. Some swear by it, and others are partial to hardwood and various types of tile. How about you?

i have deathly allergies to dust, mold etc... i live 3 feet from the Adriatic so all the moisture makes mold in carpets and even rugs. i have hardwood and tile, although wood was a mistake bc moisture also does a number to the wood..and my hair! but at least that 'beach waves' look is always in.

I didn't get to pick my specs for my house... so I have carpet in most places. This includes the master bathroom, soooooo annoying. Then there is the tile, which is the a ceramic and is so slippery when wet. Basically, I would have never chose it. So when I have save up enough money I want to change out the tile and fix the carpet in my bathroom.

Only in the bedrooms! We have travertine in one bathroom, stained concrete in the other and hardwoods throughout the rest. I like carpet in my bedroom, but I am glad the rest of the house doesn't have it.

Not a carpet person. Had mostly wood and tile floors in the house I had previously except for the entry/stairs where I put in a runner. (old house, 1800s, so it was a nice fit) What came out of that was a fondness for area rugs for many reasons: 1)Unlike carpet, they can be dragged outside, beaten and cleaned, or vacumned, or sent away for professional cleaning. 2)Unlike carpet, its not quite as huge a colour scheme commitment-area rugs, particularly Oriental ones, can be resold or even traded for other ones, when you want a change. 3)Unlike carpet, I KNOW how clean my floor is, or is not, because I have total control over the surface. Plus, with area rugs, I buy cotton, wool and silk only - the horrid crap that is in most carpets is not good for us, or the environment.

Most are carpeted, few tiled...this is just our starter home. We don't want to waste money that will someday go into our dream house.

Heated concrete downstairs. Bamboo upstairs. Tile in the bathrooms oh and we have cork flooring in our office. The cork is so cool I would have put it in other rooms if we would have known it was going to be so neat.

Our kitchen and dining area are laminate -- if we could, we'd have laminate throughout! Maybe one day :]

I don't like carpet. It doesn't feel clean (maybe I'm just weird). We have hardwood and tile in our apartment.

I hate carpet. Even when I rented, I refused to live in a place with carpet.

Some of my floor is carpeted, but that is all done by the apartment company, so i have to deal with it even if i hate it. the good thing is they picked a nice light beige color so it can go with almost any color scheme...but i have to make sure it stays clean/doesn't get ruined otherwise I'm paying for it =s

It's hardwood everywhere in our home - apart from the kitchen and bathrooms. They're tiled. We have rugs, but no fitted carpets.

Every floor in my house is carpet, save the bathrooms, kitchen and "walk way" when you enter the front door. As an artist who primarily does all the artsy stuff in her bedroom, carpet is simply not a very good option. I literally have this giant purple-stained spot on my carpet from when I spilled watercolor paint and let it accidentally set in. I told my mom when I buy a house, I'm buying an older house (certainly not a brand-spanking new one if I can help it) and if there's carpet, I'm ripping it out and praying for hardwood floors underneath. Anything is better than carpet.

Hate carpet. Worst thing for trapping dust, mites, dirt, molds, etc. Horrid for people with allergies or asthma, not to mention the off-gasing. Yuck! We do slate or saltillo tile here, or all hardwood- easy to clean with murphys or hippie dishsoap.. things that don't leave residues to hurt the animals or the kids when they put paws/fingers in their mouths after rolling around on the floor. The kids have all learned to make a soft nest of pillows on the floor if they don't want to flop on the futon, even the baby. If the sippy cup leaks, it wipes up. If one of the cats gets a hairball, it wipes up. If people with animal allergies are coming over, the dander washes up. Plus little is as lovely as 250 year old wide plank pine, and it doesn't end up in a landfill in 5 years when it gets stained.

I love carpeting! It's a job to clean it, but it's warm underfoot and soft for when the kids wrestle. We'll probably put in hardwoods when the kids get older because it seems like the thing to do these days, but I much prefer carpet!

I hate carpeting. I currently have carpeting in the living room. All other rooms in the house are either hardwood or tiles.

I have carpeting, but I rent. I absolutely detest carpet, and every other home I have lived in has either been entirely tile or hardwood.

If I ever can afford it I will get rid of all my carpet and have wood and tile in every room.

All hallways, staircases and living areas are carpeted in our house. Master bath, dining room and kitchen have a fantastic tile and our laundry room and guest bath is linoleum. The linoleum (I don't think I'm spelling that right) isn't that bad, but I still can't wait to replace that. Eventually we will do wood flooring in the living room.
