After redecorating my sons' shared bedroom to make it work as a nursery and big boy room, I was high on redecorating endorphins but low on funds, and itching to transform our bland master bedroom. I figured I could add more style and function by hanging bedside sconces and freeing up the surfaces of my nightstands. I was set on a midcentury vibe, but finding sleek, modern sconces that looked expensive but cost less than $50 (including shipping) was a tall order. That's when I discovered Light Society's Beaker Wall Sconce in Matte Black ($40, originally $46) on Amazon!

Aside from looking expensive, the sconce is also really functional with a cone shape that twists to easily focus light in any direction and an arm that can fold against the wall or fully extend. It's perfect for reading, and when you want something less bright, you can point the cone up or away from your bed for softer, indirect light.

The sconce is available in black and white, but the hardwired version is all that is available right now. If a plug-in option is a must for you, check out these others under $100!
