The poison apple from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is one of the spookiest Disney items of all time. In the film, the apple is dipped into a bubbling cauldron and comes out dripping green and looking like a skull, while in the Disney parks, the apple is transformed into a creepy dessert to enjoy during Halloween. Now, to really round out the spooky celebrations, Disney has created a fun poison apple-inspired pumpkin DIY!

This craft is super easy to do and makes for a delightfully cool Halloween decoration (your pumpkin will definitely stand out among the rest). To make your own poison apple pumpkin, you'll need a few things, including white glue, shaving cream, red paint, and a medium-to-large pumpkin (fake or real). Keep reading to see how to create your own, but just be sure you don't take a bite!

Gather Your Supplies

You'll need some white school glue, shaving cream, red paint, and a pumpkin (fake or real will do, but fake pumpkins last longer!). The pumpkin I found at the craft store was already painted white, so it was super easy to cover with the red paint.

Paint the Pumpkin Red

After you get all of your supplies, the first thing you need to do is paint your pumpkin red. This may take a few thin coats of paint to get everything covered well and evenly.

Trace the Poison Apple Stencil

You can either free-hand the eyes and nose from the poison apple or you can print the stencil from the Disney Parks Blog website. I chose to use the stencil so I didn't mess anything up.

Mix the "Poison"

Mix the "Poison"

The poison on the apple is actually equal parts white school glue and shaving cream. Mix these together in a disposable cup or bowl for easy clean up. For an even spookier pumpkin you could add a few drops of green food coloring or paint to make the pumpkin look more like the poison apple from Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

Make Sure the Shaving Cream Mixture Consistency Is Correct

Make Sure the Shaving Cream Mixture Consistency Is Correct

After you've mixed the white school glue and shaving cream together, you're going to want to check the consistency. It should be thick like brownie batter, not thin like cake batter.

Start Applying the Mixture

Carefully start applying the mixture to the top of the pumpkin. This is easiest with a plastic spoon or knife. The more you put on the top the more it will drip down for a creepy effect. Just be careful to not get the mixture inside the black eyes and nose you traced earlier.

Finish Your Pumpkin

When you've finished covering the pumpkin with the shaving cream mixture, it should look like this. Leave it on a flat surface to set for a few hours and then move it to wherever you'd would like.
