CS: The way the curves of your Cherner armchairs, round chandelier, and Saarinen Tulip table mimic each other absolutely makes that whole corner dining nook. Do you have any tips for readers on selecting dining tables and chairs to go together? Are you pro-mix-and-matching or should they look for similar shapes?
KM: That nook is actually my office. I always try several chairs with tables to just get it right. I do not think there is a hard fast rule. In this case, I like the silhouette of the walnut Cherner chair up against the Saarinen white table. I love the high contrast, and it becomes sculptural. I always encourage clients to get out of their comfort zone and look at a few options. It often is the chair that you think is the most unlikely candidate that works the best.
