Just days before the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro [1], Adriana Lima is proudly repping her motherland as Vogue Brasil's August 2016 cover star.

The gorgeous spread [2] was shot at a local boxing gym in Rio, proving that art imitates life as Adriana is quite the seasoned boxer [3] herself. But aside from depicting Adriana's badass personality, the shoot was also meant to draw attention to Fight for Peace [4], an organization that teaches children and adolescents boxing and martial arts while also illustrating the harmful effects of gang violence and crime.

In addition to acting as a de facto ambassador during the coming Olympics beginning on Aug. 5, Adriana will be joining NBC's coverage of the games alongside her compatriot and fellow Victoria's Secret Angel [5] Alessandra Ambrosio. The two supermodels are slated to appear on the network's late-night coverage with Ryan Seacrest [6].
