UPDATE: On June 9, Disney announced Elena will now make her debut in her own series premiering on Disney Channel on July 22. She will no longer appear on Sofia the First, but there will be a special television movie called Elena and the Secret of Avalor that will explain Elena's backstory airing on Disney Channel in the Fall.
