27 English Words You Probably Use When Speaking Spanish

If you speak Spanish [1] or have tried to learn it, then you know there are so many freaking words! But although the language has a vast (endless, it seems) array of terms and phrases that mean the same thing and a few special words that have no translation [2], I recently noticed I tend to borrow a handful of English words here and there. I ask a friend, for example, to please put a "hot dog" on the grill for me and say I have nothing to wear in my "closet." It turns out, I'm not alone! After polling friends, family, and editors, I came up with 27 English words commonly used in Spanish — some of these will actually shock you.
