Jadyn Douglas is making quite the name for herself as one of the stars on NBC's new and much talked-about workplace comedy Telenovela, alongside producer and actress Eva Longoria [1] and a cast of hilarious Latinos.
The Nashville native, who was born in Puerto Rico, plays Roxi Rios. And with the season finale airing on Feb. 22, she recently opened up to POPSUGAR Latina about her role as "fun, ditzy, playful, sexy-but-I-don't-mean-to-be" Roxi (no, the accent isn't real), her supertight relationship with her castmates [2] (Eva included), and a few of her favorite things about the show. Keep reading to discover even more about Telenovela — straight from Jadyn herself.
On the Audition Process
"Long story short, I booked it off of a self-tape — I honestly never expected to get a call back. It was insane, and within a few days, they were flying me to Los Angeles to test for the network [NBC]. I did my audition that day, and I ended up getting a phone call from a number I didn't recognize. It was Eva, and she was like, 'I just wanted to say congratulations, you got the part, and welcome you to the family. If you need anything, this is my number. I know what it's like to be new — I was you basically on Desperate Housewives.'"
On the Cast
"We have such a fun cast. It just, at this point, feels like a family. I know a lot of people say that, but honestly, we hang out outside of work! We really love each other, and we support each other."
On Eva Longoria
"She's the sweetest, most down-to-earth person you've ever met, and you wouldn't expect that from such a big star. She's nothing short of amazing. I also love just getting to watch her work, because I'm learning so much from her — how she chooses to do a scene, the lighting, and all the camera stuff."
On Her Favorite Villian on the Show
"That's between Alex [Meneses, who plays Isabela] and Amaury [Nolasco, who plays Rodrigo]. I'd go for Amaury!"
On Her Most Embarrassing Behind-the-Scenes Moment
"I was on set, and I called costumes in the other room to talk about a feminine situation. So, we close the door, we're having our conversation, and then I realize I'm still mic'd. We laughed so hard!"
On Her Favorite Guest Star
"I would have to say my husband, Andrè Douglas! He was the hot shirtless [3] guy [on episode 10]. When the writers came up with, 'Oh, we need a hot shirtless guy,' they were just like, 'What about Andrè?' I'm like, well you're not going to get a hotter shirtless guy, so I say let's go for it!"
