Miss Puerto Rico, 19-year-old Stephanie del Valle, is the new Miss World! The Pace University law and communications student from San Juan was crowned in a ceremony at the MGM National Harbor in MD, taking the top spot ahead of first runner-up Miss Dominican Republic, Yaritza Miguelina Reyes Ramirez, and second runner-up Miss Indonesia, Natasha Mannuela.

Stephanie's win marks the island's second Miss World, after Wilnelia Merced won the title in 1975. More importantly, it adds to tennis player Monica Puig's win [1] at the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics where she secured the country's first gold medal, making 2016 a memorable year for Puerto Rico.
